friendships

What is a friend? I look on Facebook and see people with 500 or more but what does that really mean - do they know all of these people? Have they met face to face? I think that in my mothers day she had all of these friends (maybe not 500!) but they only communicated at Xmas when they exchanged Christmas cards - is online social media the equivalent of old fashioned greeting cards but on a more day to day or week to week basis?
I've had a best friend since I was at school but we rarely ever contact each other now and I'm not exactly sure why. We do live in different countries now and have new lives, she's divorced and I'm finally with someone again but I still feel sad, we don't even bother to Facebook each other anymore. Remember that old saying "friends for a reason, friends for a season"? I looked it up on the net and read the entire thing (it's pretty long) and it made me feel better. I feel less like I lost someone and more grateful for all we had - you know, better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all. I'm sounding like a walking quote book now, time to stop but hopefully I have given you a bit of food for thought!
catch you soon
Seasons greeting - I would send a card but ..........

Got my website up - yah!

hello again,
well I have finally got my website online, it certainly has been a long process and will continue to be a work in progress as I add to it regularly. Please do go and visit at ; http://www.reallifebalance.com/
I have put the following quote by Dale Carnegie on the home page as it really does sum up what my website is trying to achieve;
"One of the most tragic things I know about human nature is that all of us tend to put of living. We are all dreaming of some magical rose garden over the horizon - instead of enjoying the roses blooming outside our windows today."
I am learning how to live more in the moment and enjoy each day instead of always waiting for something to happen. Anyway I hope you do visit my website and I would love to hear your comments.

Hello and welcome to my blog - my name is Lily and I decided to start this blog for all of you out there who are living your lives waiting to be thinner before embarking on whatever it is you want to do.
After working for nearly three years in the weight loss industry I came away feeling very sad that so many of us are waiting for the magical number on the scales or that elusive dress size to happen before we really begin living the life we deserve.
I noticed that many of the women I saw everyday and some of my friends are always in one of the four stages of weight management;
1. On a diet.
2. Thinking about going on a diet.
3. Feeling guilty about our weight but just not quite ready to start yet another diet.
4. Struggling to maintain our post diet weight.

My wish is that my blog will make you smile, laugh, hopefully motivate you and help and encourage you to find balance and learn to love who you are - right now, today. Life should be about about finding and maintaining a good balance in everything you do each day and just remembering to stop and smell the roses once and a while. Maybe my blog will be one of your daily 'roses'.
I also have a website that offers some laughter, ideas, nonsense and practical, common sense information that you may wish to visit;

Talk to you soon.
